2 days trip to Narasimhar temples

2 days trip to Narasimhar temples

Submitted by: Sri / Smt. Aruna Sridhar

We, around 8 persons started around 4 am in a Tavera Vehicle on 4th September 2010 from Adambakkam for devotional journey. First day (4.9.2010).

(a) Started around 4am from Adambakkam and travelled via GST Road reached Pondicherry checkpost around 7am and taken the permit for entering in Pondicherry and went to Singiri Koil or Singirikudi (Other name as Abhishekapakkam) where Lord Narasimhar is found in sitting posture as Ugra Narasimhar by killing the Demon King Hiranyakashipu with his hands. We had beautiful darshan and prasadam of the lord and left the place by 8.30am.

(b) We had gone to Poovarasankuppam - Sri Amirthavalli Thayar Sametha Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple. It is on the way via Villuppuram - Panruti - Cuddalore Road. This temple dates back to the 7th Century. Reached temple around 10am and had the darshan and started to Parikkal by 11am as we need to reach parikkal before 1pm since the temple will be closed by 1.30 and will open again around 4 pm.

(c) We reached Parikkal around 12.30 and there was a heavy crowd and we were thinking of whether we will have the darshan before noon or to stay till evening. But we had the darshan and came out of the temple by 1.15 pm Since it is afternoon time, nowhere the temples will be opened, we went to panruti and had our lunch and purchased some Cashew nuts and started leaving to Thiruvaheendrapuram, which is in the list of 108 Divya Desam. Thiruvaheendrapuram - Sri Deyva Nayaga Perumal temple evening opening time starts only by 4.30 pm and we reached there around 3pm itself and standing outside the temple. Opposite to Deyva Nayaga Perumal temple there is also another hill temple of Lord Lakshmi Hayagreevar, and this temple is opened by 4pm itself. Hence first we went there and had the Darshan of Lord Hayagreevar and came down and the temple of Deyva Nayaga perumal is opened. When we entered the temple we saw a Well known as Sesha Theertham, Generally, the milk for snakes will be poured into Putru (very small place made of mud where snakes are found), but instead here in this sthalam, the milk is poured into this well inside the Koil Pragharam. With this Sesha Theertham, the neivedhyam (food) or Prasadham is done for the Perumal We had a good darshan and left the temple around 5.30pm and started to Thiruvathigai - Sara Narayana Perumal Temple. Thiruvathigai is Located 3kms East of Panruti, off the Cuddalore highway, is the Sara Narayanan temple, a temple whose history dates back thousands of years. There is a reference to Thiru Pura Vathigai in the 4th part of Brahmmanda Puranam, under Sri Sara Narayana Mahatmiyam. Brahmma is said to have shared, with Sage Narada, the greatness of Lord Sara Narayanan of Thiru Vathigai. Lord Narasimha is in Sayana Kolam not seen in any Divya Desam/temple. Temple Timing : 6.30am to 11.00 am, 5.30pm to 8.30pm Bhattachariyar contact No.: 94437 87186 (Sriman Bhattar or Sridhar Bhattar)

From Thiruvathigai we planned to visit Anthili Narasimhar Temple, but due to time shortage and the temple at Anthili will be closed by 7pm itself, we planned to visit Thirukoilur Divya Desam temple and around 6.15pm we started leaving to Thirukoilur temple. Reached Thirukoilur temple around 7.30pm and the temple is opened till 8.30pm. We had a good darshan of Thiruvikraman (Ulagalanda Perumal) and also we saw the Vamana Sannadhi on the back side of Ulagalanda Perumal. Most of the person do not know about the Vamana Sannidhi. We got a chance to have the darshan of Lord Vamana, it is small sannidhi and the lord looks very beautiful. After having darshan we started around 8.30pm and reached Thiruvannamalai around 10pm. Had our Dinner and Stayed at a Hotel in Thiruvannamalai.

Second Day (05.09.2010)
Early morning we vacated the Hotel room and went to Arunachaleswarar Temple around 5.30am. We had the darshan of Lord Arunachaleswarar and left the temple around 7am after having breakfast. We traveled from Thiruvannamalai to Vellore Road around 24 kms via Polur and visited Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple atop and steep hillock with about 840 steps. There in the top of the hill the narasimhar is seen in Swayambu. The way to reach the top of the hill is very steep and it is advised to carry waterbottle. The Swayambu moorthy looks very beautiful and the place is very calm and the sight seeing is very nice while climbing the hill. The temple is currently served by a single priest named Mr. Sekar Bhattacharyar who also looks after a small perumal temple below inside the town. If any wants to visit the hillock temple they can talk to the Bhattachariyar and they can inform him about their visit well in advance. So that the Bhattachariyar can be available in the top of the hill. His Mobile No. is 9842307594; 9443098358.

We started climbing the hill around 8.15 am and reached the temple around 9.45am. We had the darshan and came down and went to the temple inside the town. There we saw Utsavar - Sri Narasimha Moorthy and Moolavar - Sri Venugopala swamy and from there we started to Padavedu Lakshmi Narasimhar While traveling from Thiruvannamalai to Vellore Road after Polur, we have to turn left at Sandavasan and 8kms from turn Ramanathapuram village will come, there we can enquire about Narasimhar temple and the villagers can guide us to reach the temple. While traveling we can see the agricultural lands on both the sides.

The temple will be opened from 7.30am to 11 am and after that evening around 4.30pm to 6.30pm only. We reached by 12.00 noon. While leaving from Polur temple itself we called Mukundan Bhattar of Padvadu Lakshmi narasimhar temple and informed that we will be reaching the temple. Hence the Bhattar was waiting for us. Here the Thaayar is seen on the right side lap of the Lord Sri Narasimhar. Padavedu is the birth of Parasuramar (6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu). As it was a Sunday, some of the devotees had already performed Thirumanjanam, Mukundan Bhattar had given us the Thirumanjana Prasadam to us. By 1.00pm we left the temple and reached Renuka Devi Amman Temple around 1.30pm. Renuka Devi Amman temple is taken care by T.N Govt and we had the darshan of the Lord and we finished our lunch where our colleague was performing Annadhanam on that day which we do not know that he is there. We were thinking of moving far to take our lunch as there is no good hotel for taking lunch, but by god's grace we had our lunch near the temple itself.

From there we traveled via Arni to Vandavasi route and we got down at Avaniyapuram - Dakshina Ahobilam - Nava Narasimhar Temple around 2.45pm. We had already visited this temple about 5 times within a period of 2 months from July to September and this is the 6th time we are again visiting this temple. It is a small hill temple where we need to climb around 64 steps to see the Lord Lakshmi Narasimhar with Thaayar sitting on the left side Lap. Here the Thaayar face is like a lion's face where we cannot see like this anywhere. Near the moolavar sannidhi we can also see a small idol of Lord Narasimha. Also Utsavar is also seen in Lions face Right of the sannidhi another sannidhi having 5 idols of Lord Narasimhar. After coming out of the sannidhi we need to climb around 110 steps where Lord Ranganathar Sannidhi can be seen. Side way of Lord Ranganathar Sannidhi we can see Thaayar Sannidhi, Yoga Narasimhar, Lord Ranganathar and Lord Vishnu. Temple timing is Morning : 6.30 am to 12.30pm Evening : 3.00 pm to 8.30 pm Contact : Mukundan Bhattar : 9629540448. We started from Avaniyapuram around 3.30pm and went to Sevilimedu via vandavasi-Kanchipuram Road, before collector office.

When we went to the temple, the temple is closed and we enquired about the opening time with a nearby tea shop and they informed that the temple will be opened only around 6pm. So we waited there and all of us refreshed ourselves and had a cup of coffee and came again, now the temple is opened and we saw the Rudra Narasimhar where the idol is 7ft high and we had the darshan and the Thaayar of this temple is also 5ft high. We left around 7pm and we are returning back to our home.

On the way kanchipuram - Chennai via Maraimalainagar we took a left turn (Opp to Ford Factory) crossed the Railway Gate and taken again left and traveled for about 5 minutes we went to Swati Peetam - Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple. The temple is being taken care by a couple and they are very kind enough for all the devotees and even when we reached there it was around 8pm, we called them and informed that we are reaching the temple, hence the temple is opened and they were waiting for us. We had a very good darshan of the Lord and Thaayar and spoke to the couples and got the blessings of them and returned home around 10pm. We all of us enjoyed the trip and had a very good darshan in each and every temple.
